Objectives
The Association is based upon the knowledge and the experience that its international members have attained, with a view to the development and the use of innovative methodologies and technologies, in order to:
- Develop and support the learning sector, by providing a shared platform for intercultural research and cooperation between institutions/networks and other agencies, in close cooperation with national and international bodies
- Support member institutions for the establishment of partnerships useful to draw up proposals and projects financed by the European Commission or other international organizations and to implement sustainable education plans in developing countries
- Adopt a network approach suitable for overcoming diversities by stimulating a critical reflection of current research macro lines and adapting them to the different societies and cultures needs fulfilment
- Encourage the collaboration between public and private bodies in the fields of ODL and e-learning
- Provide advisory services to national and international, governmental and non-governmental bodies on education and training, through the ODL and e-learning systems
- Make information concerning the ODL and e-learning availability, whenever possible, in cooperation with the several member institutions
- Provide assistance for the development and consolidation of regional and national ODL and e-learning networks, programmes and new initiatives at global level
- Participate in global cooperation and research initiatives and establish formal relations with other international bodies or institutions, operating in different sectors of the latest-generation research (biotechnologies, biomedicine, robotics, micro-robotics)
- Promote and enhance experiences and resources in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) already existing worldwide, which are able to promote innovative processes and models of knowledge transfer
- Encourage and help member bodies to set up collaborative projects and to find appropriate sponsors for such projects
- Encourage the development of best practices and quality standards with an emphasis on quality assessment and certification of trans-national education, which will provide evaluation systems for distance education and e-learning processes and products
- Develop e-accessibility in order to make the access to the new information and communication technologies easier and to shape a knowledge society, also accessible to the disabled
- Activate a permanent distance communication system through thematic forums, where people, institutions and associations may establish a continuous professional interaction
