Structure

GUIDE is run by a General Secretariat and a Board of Regional Representatives elected by the Members.

The General Secretary ad interim is Prof. Alessandra Briganti, Rector of the Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi.

During the GUIDE international Workshop “E-learning and Multicultural Education: Digital Divide and Digital Opportunities”, held in Rome last 15 and 16 of May, has been elected the Board of Regional Representatives of the Association.

Middle Eastern Area: Prof. Osama Mimi

Professional Curriculum: Conducted several training programs targeting university and school teachers on e-enabled curricula design, development, delivery and evaluation. Particularly skilled in the “Modes of Representation in Physics Problem Solving”.

   

Latin American Area: Prof. Murilo Matos Mendonça

Professional Curriculum: Author of the coursebook “English for Reading Purposes”, used at UnisulVirtual; teacher of English for Reading Purposes and of Reading and Writing in Portuguese at UnisulVirtual; manager of the OpenLearn project at UnisulVirtual, a collaboration with The Open University of the UK. In Face-to-Face Education: teacher of Business and Financial English of the Undergraduate Program of International Relations; former teacher of the following undergraduate programs: Architecture and Urbanism, Business Administration, Computer Science, English Language, and Telematics Engineering.

European Area: Prof. Krzysztof Gurba

Tischner European University, Krakow, Poland.
Professional Curriculum: Professor of Computer Science and Philosophy. Academic teacher since 1986 at Medical Academy, Pedagogical Academy, the Jagiellonian University. Since 2003 Dean and Associated Professor at the Tischner European University, Department of Applied Social Sciences. Teaches also journalism at Technical and Management University in Rzeszow and the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow. Worked as a journalist and editor since 1981 (independent press) and from 1989 in official journals and newspapers. City Counselor of Cracow in 1998-2002. Published 2 books, over 50 papers and many translations. Now Responsible for e-Learning at the Tischner European University.

   

African Area: Prof. Rachida Ajhoun

African Sub-Saharan Area: Prof. Babatunde Ipaye

Director of the Learner Support Services.
National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Nigeria.
Professional Curriculum: Professor Ipaye had been twice Dean of Faculty of Education at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He also served as Director of the Institute of Education at the Ondo State University and as Provost and Chief Executive of the College of Education, one of the oldest in the country. Since joining the National Open University of Nigeria in October, 2003 he had been charged with responsibilities for establishing and administering the various Study Centres of the University.

   

North American Area: Prof. David Guralnick

President of Kaleidoscope Learning, Adjunct Professor at Columbia University and President and Co-Founder of the International E-Learning Association, New York, U.S.A.
Professional Curriculum: His career has focused on designing and developing e-learning software and authoring tools to solve training and performance issues for a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. He’s a frequent keynote speaker at e-learning conferences and has been published in numerous industry journals and periodicals. He’s an adjunct assistant professor of Psychology and Education at Columbia University, New York. He also serves as Chairman of ASTD-NY's E-learning. Special Interest Group and Chairman of the International Conference on e-Learning in the Workplace.

   

North American Area: Prof. Robert W. Robertson

Director of Graduate Business Studies

Professional Curriculum: He served as Dean, Bang College of Business and Executive Director, Centre for Sustainable Urban Futures at the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research (2005-2006). He has more than twenty years of management experience in the public sector in Canada. Most recently, he served as the City Manager, City of Hamilton, Ontario. He has lectured at universities in China, Brazil, Canada and Central Asia and is an invited speaker at conferences world-wide. His research and consulting interests include corporate and strategic planning, quality management, continuous improvement, organizational behaviour, economic development, public sector management, city planning and international business.

   

International Consultant: Prof. Marco Rimanelli

Professional Curriculum: Full Professor in U.S. Foreign Policy, European Affairs & NATO/ International Security, and Director of International Studies (1993-now) at Saint Leo University in Tampa, Florida. Saint Leo University is Central Florida’s historic Catholic university since 1889, with 3,000 students on-campus (residents/week-end), 6,000 in Distance Learning Centers at U.S. military bases and third-largest U.S. provider of On-line classes to 4,000 professionals. He previously served as Scholar-in-Residence in the U.S. Government (1999-2001 & 1990-91) on NATO Enlargements, NATO-USSR/Russia nuclear weapons negotiations.

   

Western and Central Asian Area: Prof. Didim Butskhrikidze

Chinese/Asian Area: Prof. Zhang Deming

Shanghai TV University, China.
Professional Curriculum: Prof. Zhang is currently President of Shanghai TV University and Chair Holder /Coordinator of UNESCO Chair/Network in ODL for East Asia. He is the Founding Chairman of Global Mega-University Network, and Executive Council Member of Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU). Once awarded the title of “National Distinguished Educator”, he also serves as Head of Shanghai Education TV Station, Executive Vice President of the Association of China Education TV, Council Member of Chinese Reportage Association, and Managing Director of Shanghai Association of Journalists. He has published several books and more than 100 academic papers about Distance Education. In addition, he is editor or co-editor of three papers collections.
